Audio crackling Acer Aspire 5 notebook

Hello. I've bought a new Acer Aspire 5 notebook (A515-51G-502C), sometime around the 25th of November. Didn't use it so much the first week; afterwards I've been studying for my exams every day on it...and I started to note a problem: don't think it had it from the beginning but I could be mistaken . Audio started to go crackling casually, upon watching videos or listening to music. And sometimes the video freezes for some seconds but I don't know if the two are related or not. The audio goes bad both with headphones and speakers. After trying the following, I'm thinking about a software problem rather than a hardware one: I tried the windows troubleshoot sound problems, played the audio sound, said it was bad twice, changed to microsoft audio driver (from realtek), said I didn't hear anything and changed again to the first one(realtek). This fixes the audio temporarily, just have to switch drivers. Also, rebooting seems to "fix" it. So far, I've tried to update NVidia drivers, Realtek drivers, uncheck the audio enhancements, download the Realtek drivers from their site. Don't really want to format windows because I need to study, but I'll try it if I don't get other advice. Also considered sending it back since it's in warranty.

Sure will. Problem is, there are a lot of people asking advice and none giving. Astonishing how I can't get support for a newly bought laptop. I mean, even Microsoft tried to give a hand but I can't seem to contact acer support. Just formatted, still getting ***** audio, so don't try it.
Thinking about refunding it, if possible.

This leads me to a possible problem with Dolby driver. Why don't you do a rollback on the Dolby Driver? Also, try booting in Safe Mode and see if it stops man? :o

    Hello.
I had a similar problem with my acer a515-51G and I tried the link below. To be precise, I changed the sound format and it worked! If that doesn't work, you have 3 more options to choose.

    Hi,

Please try and check if the below steps helps you to resolve the issue.

    Perform power drain.
    1. Unplug the power source and disconnect any other cables that are connected to the device.
    2. Flip the unit up side down and look for battery reset pin hole.
    3. Use a paper clip insert it in to the pinhole and hold it for 30-40 sec (doing this would discharge any static energy in the unit )
    4. Now power on the device to check if the issue persist.

If the issue persist then try BIOS defaults.

During powering up the unit press F2 to launch BIOS and now press F9 and hit enter to set the BIOS to defaults and to save the settings press F10 and hit enter. ( Please do not make any other changes in the BIOS this may corrupt the unit boot up )

Any fixes before I return my laptop?

Literally cannot use my laptop connected to HDMI as it crackles, slows down audio and video and speeds up immediately after. Almost 2019. Acer are in 2002.

*****, there are a lot of people with problems like this. I tried everything around web. Perfoming power drain, downgrading realtek driver, perform a dsp Checker, disabling wlan adapter, puting processor minimum state to 100%, updating bios, change áudio format. the only thing that actually worked for me was disabling the Smart Sound OED on the device manager>system. Dont know how it affects the sound, and i still listen 01% of crackling sometimes. hope it helps to everyone who tried everything. like me.

I have Swift 3, similar problem, but I heard it only when I plugged external speakers. When I plugged headphones it was OK.
I solved that popping sound problem that before I use a speakers, I turn off Acer True Harmony and turn on Limited output. All these settings you can find in "speaker properties" section - "win+I", than "system-sound-device properties-next device properties".
