Originally had Win7 Home with AMD QuadCore Processor.  Got the free Win10 update in May,'16.  All was well UNTIL the Fall 2017 Creators Update.  All other non-ACER computers I have had no issue with the Fall Update.
At about 70% install, monitor went blank (could still see the LED's lit in the background and the monitor was not in power save mode).  Turned computer off.  Restarted, continued until about 90%, then the little ball circle froze.  Turned off again, the computer then automatically restored to previous before the update and ran fine.  Tried F Creators update again a few days later.  Same issue.  Tried again, same.   I have another of same model and it did the same.   Tried a fresh Windows install using USB Flash Drive with Media Creation Tool.  Install started, but once it started installing devices, the blank screen again during install of devices and there was no restore from a previous version as the HDD was reformatted.  I have a Image to restore, but keep getting an error that the image was from a computer with a different BIOS.
Even purchased a Win10Home CD to do a fresh install.  Same issue on install. (Guess I'll save the license for another time)
So, I thought, maybe it was the Display adapter not taking the update.  Got and installed a GeForce GT710.  Same issue.
Maybe a BOIS update issue?  How can I update the BIOS with no OS?
Very frustrating.  Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm not a computer expert, but I've done my share of installing Windows OS in my time, Changing out HDD's, loading drivers, installing cards, etc.
Thanks.

    Hi,
Sorry to hear about your experience. There are a number of factors which can make this work, and number of factors which will make this process problematic. It could an antivirus application or any other applicaton installed on your computer.

My suggestion is to get the recovery media from Acer store and restore your computer with factory shipped os, then try to upgrade again and try to install the Fall creaters update.

You can also run then windows troubleshooter from Microsoft to reset the windows update components.

To temporarily prevent the driver from being reinstalled until a new driver fix is available, a troubleshooter is available that provides a user interface to hide and show Windows updates and drivers for Windows 10. The following troubleshooter is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Many AMD users have reported that the installation or update to the latest build of 1709 freezes and doesn't want to continue, causing the system to go in unbootable state. I think you should wait until a new patch is released and then install 1709 version.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.
