I just bought Acer Swift 3 laptop. But as strange as it may sound, it came with pre-installed HP support assistant and few other apps. And it periodically ask to update/upgrade etc.

This is my work laptop and can't take much risk. Will there be any repercussion if I uninstall it?

I would pull it out personally. Not only does this type of software spend a lot of resources "monitoring" your PC.

To remove the icon from the taskbar: Open HP Support Assistant, select “Updates and tune-ups.” Then click “Other settings” on the bottom left and uncheck the taskbaroptions in the “How would you like to be notified?” section.

To completely get rid of it, you may open Programs and Features window, select HP Support Assistant, then click the Uninstall button to remove it.
