Hey, I have a skylake processor in my PC and I'm thinking of upgrading it to i5-7500. Do I need to update bios? My computer was bought in November 2016. And if i have to update can someone tell me how.

Can you please post your PC's model?
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Your BIOS probably doesn't support kabylake CPUs.  Post what is the current BIOS version of your PC. To check your current BIOS version open 'RUN' and type msinfo32. You will find it in system summary. If your BIOS is R01.Ax you can't install kabylake CPU as it doesn't support it. There is newer BIOS R02.Ax, but you can't upgrade to it as it is for the new G3-710s with the kabylake CPUs.

I am talking about the BIOS. R01 can't be updated to R02 and R01 doesn't support kabylake CPU's.

Here are all BIOSes for G3-710. The older(skylake) G3-710 has R01.Ax BIOS and can be updated to R01.A4, but it cannot be updated to R02.A4. R02.Ax versions are for the newer(kabylake) G3-710s.
