Ciao a tutti,

my laptop seem to have a defective contact on the wireless device: sometimes I have wireless, sometimes Win 8.1 (different installations) tell me that there is no wireless device. Can anybody give me some hints ...
- where (in laptop) the chip is localized
- how to repair it

THX

  • Hi,
Could you please post the make and model of your WiFi card and the driver version, go to Device manager, expand Network adapters, highlight and right click the WiFi, select properties, go to Driver tab and find the driver version.

    Hi brummyfan2,

THX a lot for your attention on my problem ! I can provide some information with attached foto, but it seems to me, that it will not be very helpful, because (at the moment) the wireless device is not found (see 2.), so I'm not surprised, that it does not appear in the device manager (1.). I made an additional check with tool HWInfo, see 3.
    maybe not helpful, too.

As I said, sometimes it works (device present), sometimes not (not present). As soon my capricious laptop decides to find & show the device, I will update the information (here in this thread).

    Hi,
It could be the loose antenna cable or the WiFi module is not seated properly, you need to remove 10 screws to take off the back cover, the WiFi is situated in between the battery and the fan.

my comment is ignored, = I get repeatedly "You have to be around for a little while longer before you can post links". I have removed the link out of the comment but the error msg remains.

    Make a new try tomorrow

I pressed the contacts at the WLAN-chip, moved back and forth and WLAN was back again.

@brummyfan2 : Thank you very much, It's a big relief to have my box working back :)

so let me try to dupe the forum software (because it doesn't accept a link of mine) = human against software > who will be the winner ? We will see ... my link is galler y5 point eu point b 2 e h t m l

Human vs machine: Pinie, a German in earthquake town, Italy. I (a German) deny Germany & prefer to live in Italy (= where warm hearted people live).

Yesterday - at Christmas - there had been an article in an important German newspaper : social networks destroy democracy. How stupid ?! This thread - here - shows: Internet is the place where people can help each other = social network can improve human needs !

I'm a German and I prefer the terribility of earthquakes (in Italy) instead of the human coldness of German World War terribility  (not one, but 2 (!!!) of them).
