**I wrote my previous thread in the wrong section**

Hello

I bought my predator G3610 in 2012 and it worked fine until 2015. The screen started to flicker even when opening the browser, making the computer uncontrollable during the time it flickers. This would happen every minute and I gave up on it and have left it be ever since. A few days ago I started to give it a go and see what the problem is and when the computer is in safe mode, it does not flicker. I pressed on alt + F10 to reinstall the whole OS but it starts flickering when I get to the point that it installs "cleanup" at 34/35 and it doesn't install further beyond this point. Just flickers, freezing the PC, the screen goes back, then back again, works for 10 seconds and then starts flickering and repeat. I let the PC be on through the night, only to find it doing the same thing in the morning when I was getting ready for work.

The specs are awesome still to this day, i7 processor etc etc and it would be better if I somehow could repair this PC instead of buying a new one for 1000 Euro as I paid for this one in 2012.

What could the problem be? Is there anyway I could fix this without having to buy a new PC? Why does it flicker even during reinstall of the OS? And at a certain point, at the very end of the installation?

Thanks in advance

can be a bad driver of the GPU.
which GPU has your system, nvidia or amd?

it is AMD. but how can I fix the drivers if I can't log on my PC because of the reinstall? Whenever I restart the PC it continues to install the OS.

I have tried different monitors, the issue is still there.

which windows OS version is installed?

you can try to enter safe mode and check if it still flickers or enter BIOS pressing Del key during boot and check if it flickers here too.
if so, probably there's an hardware issue on the GPU and need to be replaced.

It doesn't flicker in safe mode or in BIOS. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.

ok, from safe mode, go to device manager and right click your AMD GPU under Graphic/display adapter and click Uninstall (tick to uninstall software too if prompted).
    once done, reboot normally.

I did that, but it didn't seem to help. My administrator got disabled in the process so I had to make commands to unlock it. This is a really weird situation...

    yep, not good.

the only other way, is to be able to reach windows desktop and install newer AMD drivers or do a windows 10 clean install or windows 7 without Acer's drivers.

The answer below by Microsoft talks about creating a new user profile......thus implying that a corrupt user profile can cause screen flickering.  :astonished:   It is strange that your administrator account is messed up.  Probably a coincidence.
