Nitro 5 - 1050ti? What RAM?

Hi,

I inherited my brother's old Aspire 3830T-6417 which has worked awfully well considering. It is looking like I will be replacing it with a Nitro 5 this Christmas for my light gaming (LoL and Eve) and I have three questions.

1- The Costco model is quite clear that it is a 1050, not a 1050ti. I can find no other references to the Nitro 5 having a regular 1050- which is accurate?
2- Along these lines the information isn't great on Costco, if I am trying to add another 8gb ram what should I be trying to match? Is this likely to be felt as an upgrade? Been a while since I've done any real work with hardware so my frame of reference is super outdated!
3- Same as above but HDD. I imagine there is no difference between Costco and other models in this case but what is the size/fitting for the additional storage I should look for? (EDIT: I mean physically, not in storage size, like any 2.5"?  Also my understanding is they now include the hardware so all you need is the drive itself, is that true?)

Thanks!

    1. There are variants with gtx1050 as well variants with gtx1050ti.
    2. When you add new RAM for best performance it should work in dual-channel with the one installed. Firstly, in order the new RAM to be compatible with the installed one, it should have the same frequency, latency and DRAM bus width.

In order to work in dual channel the new RAM needs to have the same module capacity(8GB), the same DRAM technology, the same bus width as the installed RAM module. Also if the installed RAM is single sided/ranked(SR) the new RAM should also be SR.

    3. The size of the HDD should be 2.5inch and maximum thickness of 9mm, I think it was. Many users have report that they have missing caddy, sata connectors and screws on different laptops.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Didn't add that if the laptop comes with single module installed(8GB) and you add another 8GB in dual-channel you will feel performance improvement in games and other tasks, but not by much.

Thank you much! And sorry I didn't clarify, the part on the RAM I am looking for specifically is if there is a consistent spec on what it comes with, or if different models can have different kinds. I'd like to put that on my Christmas list but won't be able to if I can't confirm for sure before then. I found a great sale on a Predator 300 too so might end up with that and not need to fuss with it :)

    Thanks!
