i have an all in one zc700, had it for about a year now, got a bios flash response, with the machine constantly going to this flash result. eventually, it finally completed the flash of the bios, now nothing works. the machine will start the post checks, but never even turns on the screen, with the fan running for about 5 seconds, followed by an instant shut down and reset, which goes in a loop constantly, i have tried removing the battery, resetting the cmos switch jumper, all things i could find online to suggest how to reset it, but get nowhere. it will not even recognise the fact that i have reset it. what can i do to reset the bios back to its original format, please?

    >>>got a bios flash response>>>

What do you mean by "BIOS flash response"?  What problem did the machine have when this BIOS flash response happened? Jack E/NJ

i have no idea, it would simply reset, then go to the bios screen, then complain the flash attempt was unsuitable, then after about ten attempts, it finally installed the bios update. when it did, this happened. totally confused as to what is going on.

Do you mean that you attempted to flash the BIOS with a BIOS update? If yes, why did you try to do this? Jack E/NJ

i didnt, the system did this itself. i had tried to prevent many times, but it seems to have succeeded finally, i suspect foul play, as this was my sons machine. is there any way to reset this from where we are now?

Was this machine originally factory-installed Win10 or Win8.1? Jack E/NJ

OK. Disconnect all power. If you can locate the CMOS battery, remove it if it's not soldered in place. Then set the CMOS jumper or switch to clear the BIOS and leave the jumper or switch in the clear BIOS position for several hours---don't do this unless you can remove the CMOS battery. Then try to boot it up again. If this doesn't work, we'll probably try to flash the BIOS using a USB stick. Jack E/NJ

    OK. Go to https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/6226?b=1

Download the 4.2MB BIOS firmware zipfile, R01.B3 dated 2016/12/30. Unzip the file. In the ROM folder you should find a file R01-B3.CAP. Rename the file RCVBOOT.CAP and copy it into the root directory of a blank USB stick. It must be the only file on the stick.

Turn off all power to the ZC-700. Insert the USB stick. Then power on the machine. If the BIOS can read the RCVBOOT.CAP file on the stick, a screen should appear. Follow directions on the screen to re-flash the BIOS. Report back with results.

OK. Go to https://rufus.akeo.ie/ and download the latest version of Rufus 2.18. Use it to convert the USB stick from an MBR to a GPT partitioning scheme. Then format the GPT stick to thge FAT32 file system. Copy the RCVBOOT.CAP file into the USB stick's root directory. Try it again as above. Report back. Jack E/NJ
