Screen Flicker

I own Acer Notebook model V37314695 purchased 8/23/2012. I understand it is out of warranty. It continues to perform very good, except the screen flickers terribly. I have had it repaired several times and the technician showed me a fundamental design flaw. The cable connection from the base to the monitor is pinched in the left hinge channel. The notebook works fine, proven by a clean screen when connected to an external monitor such as a TV. I am extremely disappointed with this screen performance issue. Acer is certainly aware of this design flaw and I want to hear if there are any implemented corrections.

This so-called hinge design flaw is common to ALL laptops without independent tablet capability. It's not only pinching the ribbon cable that causes problems. The ribbon's conductor traces often stress fracture from repeated bending motions of simply opening/closing the lid too much. The solution has been to try to refrain from the habit of opening and closing the lid everytime one walks away from the machine. Besides. most video ribbon cables are very inexpensive at less than $20 with free shipping and are relatively easy to replace by the user. Jack E/NJ
