E5-575-33BM - Cloning OS to SSD and Keeping HDD

I have read everything I can find about doing this but I still feel I am flying in the dark. Lots of question, any help would be appreciated.

I purchased the Amazon version of the E5-575 with 4GB RAM (upgraded to 8GB) and 1TB HDD. I installed SDD into M.2 slot (offset screw was provided). I attempted to clone HDD using Acronis True Image 2015 but system would not start clone process after reboot. Then tried EaseUS TODO which first required me to initialize the SSD before it was recognized so I could select the SSD as the destination. Before proceeding with the clone the previewed partitions looked good as far as I could tell - I selected Optimize for SSD and then did the clone. All seemed easy and to have worked well.

I first tried the simple option of changing boot order to put SSD before HDD and it immediately worked booting off new SSD and changed the SSD drive to "C"..

So now my questions.
1. How many partitions should be on the SSD? There were 3 on the HDD but now I have 5 on the SSD. Two of the new partitions are unallocated - only 8MB and 233MB so not much of a loss if I cannot recover.
2. Should I be concerned that the System Partition shrunk to 86GB vs 100GB on the HDD
3. Why does the SSD Primary Partition also show in STATUS Boot, Page File, Crash Dump
4. Should I have selected 'sector by sector' option before cloning? The EaseUS website gave multiple examples where this was recommended - even when cloning to a smaller drive - but this does not make sense.
5. Is there an advantage to have removed the HDD and then installed the OS to the SSD from the Recovery Media INSTEAD of cloning?
(How do I upload an image - I wanted to include a snip of the current Disk Management View)

Assuming that my clone process is ok - how do I wipe the HDD to remove the OS so I can use it as a second drive?
1. Do I just format the existing Windows partition? Is there a way to reclaim the 100GB System Partition?
2. Is it recommended to keep the Recovery Partition on the HDD in case I need it - since I understand that the Recovery Partition on the SSD will not work since the system expects the Recovery Partition to be at a specific sector location.

Thanks!
