5 E5-575-33BM RAM speed & usage

Just upgraded my ram to 8gb. I did verify before installing the ram that was 2400 speed (original sodimm) . after installing crucial ballistix 2400 stick of 4gb, it dropped down to 2133. how can i change it back? the bios does have an option to change this. Also, is there a reason why 2.5gb is being used? it just bothers me for some reason.

also. is there a recommend m.2 ssd type/size? I know to stay away from 3d nand. i just want a snappy laptop for school and for it to last throughout my 3 years.

    Hi,
The speed is restricted to 2133MHz by the motherboard and can not do anything about it, You need to tell us more about the RAM and the one you bought, make and model please.
You can install a M.2 SATA SSD, you may be able to install a NVMe SSD up to 512GB but you have to check your Maximum Link Width with HWiNFO64 program, more details are available in this link:https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/497241/acer-aspire-e5-575-52jf-m-2-nvme-support/p1

That is the stick that I bought. I saw that 2400mhz is compatible, though and it did run it on one stick for a period of time. Is dual channel limited to 2133? I am just confused why it would revert.

regardless, thank you for the information!

    Hi,
No problem, mine also running at 2133MHz, that's the maximum speed allowed by the motherboard, I think these Ballistix-sport modules are suitable for high end laptops and doesn't fare well in entry level laptops.
