Acer ES1-132-C06L Laptop, What Kind of Connector?

Hi,

The ES1-132-C06L (model no. N16Q6) is a small, lightweight laptop with a 32GB "hard drive" soldered in ... I never realised before I got it but that's my basic problem. The OS plus MS Office pretty much takes up all of that space ... I've countered that by using a 64GB USB3 drive but it's not a very good solution.

Attached are photos of the inside of my laptop ... a series of closeups of a compartment that seems custom built for a disk drive but what I don't know is what the connector at the end is. Fairly obviously, the space is where a hard drive would have gone had it been a model with one and I'm wondering if I can somehow use that connector/space since I happen to have the perfect SSD to fit inside it. I don't think the connector is some kind of SATA since that is normally 7 data lines however USB2 is 4 lines (I think UB3 is more).

Anyone got any idea?

Thx

    Hi,

You need HDD cable assembly and HDD Bracket assembly, the one you were asking about is a fan connector, actual HDD connector to MB is where I have circled in the snip.

Part number for HDD Bracket: 33.GG2N7.003

Part number for Cable assembly: 50.GG2N7.004

    Scews size: 4 of M2.0x3.0

                      4 of M3.0x3.0

UPDATE: I bought the cable and my laptop now has a 128GB SSD instead ... the drive was actually too big but easy to dismantle so, with no casing, was able to fit the circuit board inside.

I rebuilt the system on the new drive (drive 0 in computer management) and upgraded to W10 Pro. Even though I upgraded to the latest BIOS and used all the relevant drivers (from the Acer site) I still have one problem; sometimes, when I shut it down it, the system does as requested but the little red power light doesn't go out (it did before) and I have to hold the power button down for a few seconds ...

It's still better than before so, "C'est la vie" and again thx for the help :)

    Hi James,
I'm glad for you and you are welcome =)
EDIT: BTW, try a battery reset for the power light problem, pinhole is on the service hatch.
