G257HU intermittently goes black then recovers after a few seconds

I've had this issue ever since I bought the monitor and foolishly I never returned or exchanged it. I believed that the problem was with my displayport cable or video card. Now after having hooked the monitor up to many different computers with various cables, I can confirm that the issue is with the display itself.

 

After the monitor has been on for a couple of minutes, the screen will go completely black; then several seconds later it recovers as if nothing happens. Sometimes there is a delay of about a minute between each occurence. Other times it happens about once every 15 seconds or so. Other times it will go hours without blinking, but it always comes back with a vengeance. It's frustrating because at this point I've dealt with it for over a year. Are there any firmware updates that address this? Looking around it seems that this is potentially a problem with a lot of these displays.
