B286HK Brightness Flicker

Hello,

I've got two B286HK monitors hooked into a mid 2014 macbook pro that has 16gb ram and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB for the graphics. The monitors usually work very well but for some reason when the display gets to a certain contrast or brightness, there is a slight flicker. It's like the display is trying to adjust to some color. The flicker isn't a complete blackout, it's actually a white overlay type flicker. It does this until I move some windows around and then it eventually stops. I notice it most when using Atom editor(dark theme) and highlighting(light highlight) parts of code. Very strange issue.

Things that I've tried:

Calibrating the display

3 different DP cables including a TB2 to mini DP

Adjusting the brightness/contrast of the display in the panel settings

Resetting the display via the settings

Trying all possible combinations in the panel settings

It happens on both monitors so I have to think I couldn't be that unlucky to get two lemons, but it could definitely be the case. They were refurbs from Amazon. Not sure really what else to try. Any help would be appreciated.
