Hi i have heard differing responses to this question. should i purchase a screen protector for my iconia w700?

There's no "right" answer to this question.  Glass can be scratched, regardless of what kind of glass it is.  It all depends on how you use the tablet and how much you dislike scratches. :-)  If you always carry the tablet in a case or cover and only use your fingers on the screen, you'll probably never get a scratch (although someone might drop something on it in an airplane and scratch it that way).  If you carry the tablet "bare" in a bag with other stuff, or if you use a pen on the screen, there's a good chance you'll pick up some scratches along the way.
