ET430K

Hi All.

Just bought the ET430K monitor, and after clearing my desk plugged it in. It is beautiful!

However, I cannot get windows10 on my desktop system to offer the 4k resolution, in fact I cannot get it past 2560x1440!

I have updated the driver .inf, but that still did not solve the problem.

Before I plugged in the new screen, the exact same setup was happily running 4K on an AOC monitor, using the exact same displayport cable etc! Is there some setting on the monitor I need to adjust?

I can get the screen to run 4k of my laptop, although that is running over HDMI!

Anyone got any ideas?

Kind regards

GPG

    To illustrate:

Screenshot with the AOC 4k monitor via DP.

Then unplugging the AOC, and plugging in the ACER screen, the max resolution drops to 2560x1440 ?? ACERACER

    Any suggestions!

    what's the GPU model?

    is your GPU driver updated?

i would check on GPU settings instead of windows, just to check if everything is correctly recognised.

    Hi IronFly.

    Thanks for input.

The GPU is an ATI FirePro V (FireGL V)

Thought I had updated the driver, but looking at the date it is old. 4/11/15

Will see if there is one more up-to=date.

However,it was working with other 4k screen

i understand that's working on other monitors but probably the DP connection need an updated driver version to sync it.

had you try the ET430K on HDMI port?

Hi Ironfly, i'm new to this forum, so please excuse my learning process.

Unfortunately it does seem that I have the latest diver available, but will need more time to research.

If that does solve the problem I will mark your post as solving it.

Certainly when I put the screen in 1:1 mode I get 4k resolution but of course only with a small part of the screen. The issue does seem to lie in the PC side rather than the screen. I did try the ATI software - but again without success.

Will keep looking, and thanks for help to date!

PS: Hopefully someone with your knowledge and helpfulness will not be unemployed long - best wishes!

Yes it is working on the HDMI port with my laptop.

Unfortuantely do not have the connections to try the laptop with DP, not the desktop with HDMI... as yet!

    Cheers

Tried a less helpful website, that downloaded a search program which did not detect which GP I had!?

So thanks for this more helpful link.

I am going to look through my paperwork to find the exact model I have.

Had a minute to do some more researh.

Firstly my GPU is a 2GB ATI FirePro V5900 PCI-E.

So now downloading the latest windows 10 driver from the more helpful website 8-)

Also checked on the AMD control center.

The AOC is working at 30HZ, the Acer is looking at 60HZ !!

I tried to setup a new configuration for the ACER at 4k@30hz - but it was not having it.

Will see what happens when updating the driver!

    cf below.

That may give a clue to resolution!

    Answer ✓

reading on AMD website the max supported resolution of your GPU is 2560x1600

    http://www.amd.com/en-gb/products/graphics/workstation/firepro-3d/5900

by the way on this datasheet:

    https://www.amd.com/Documents/50279_AMD_FirePro_DisplayPort_1-2_WP.pdf

FirePro V7900 and V5900 are designed to support up to 4096x2160 @ 50Hz.

so at 60HZ i doubt it will support the ET430K resolution.

the main issue seems to be the monitor refresh rate, it's 60Hz on all the higher resolutions.

IronFly - Thank-you very much for your help - and now in the solution...

At first I thought it was going to be a new graphics card - but noticed that the ACER can support resolutions down at 50HZ!!

    Bingo!

So I have played with the custom resolution in the catalyst centre and created a new default.

    4096x2160 @ 50Hz - cf image below.

After tweeking the timing to CVT - it worked.

The high resolution looks brilliant - well done!

The only fly in the ointment is that I am sensitive to peripheral flicker... which of course I now think I am getting at 50hz.. 8-(

Still, I will see how it goes, and check it versus my laptop which will run at 60hz,.

It may just be all in my imagination!

That will give me time to look to install additional graphics card if required, to put my mind to rest!

Cheers, and I will now try and accept your solution and see what happens...!!

    Thank-you

    good to hear it.

reading better some docs, 50Hz is supported on the ET430K, so good catch!
