Hi,

I have had this s7-392 for three years and is now out of warentee.

Several months ago I received an ocasional blue screen and sometimes if the unit overheated it would swith off and when restarted showed the message Boot device could not be found (or something similar). Once the unit cooled it restarted as usual.

However in the last two weeks the laptop has suddenly switched off at least 20 times. Several times a hard disk check has been run on boot up and there were two blue screens a well.

I suspect the SSD and was all set to replace it but then ran HDD Sentinal which reports 100% performance and 97% health and suggest it might be a cabling issue!

Acer want £37.50 to look at the machine and wont quote a price for a replacement SSD but I have found out the hardware cost is at least £180 but the SSD warentee for a brand new SSD from acer is only 3 months (even though the same hardware on amazon has a 12 month warentee).

I'm happy to replace the SSD but am not convinced this is the issue after the SSD sentinal report. The problem is getting worse though. Today 80% of tiles have been removed from the menu and some programms will not run (windows mail for example) while others will if I run the exe directly.

Any suggestions where to go next? replace SSD now or could it be something else?

Many thanks.
