Acer Predator G3-605 BSOD after installing ram

Hello

So I have a pair of new ram sticks which I installed on my PC. After I installed the ram, my computer ran just fine for a few hours, but then it decided to crash. These crashes have happened several times now and after I take the new ram out the crashes don't happen, so it seems like that the crashes only happen because of the ram.

I bought Kingston 8GB (2x4GB) HyperX Fury, DDR3 1600MHz, CL10, 1.5V, and if I checked correctly the old ones should be the same Mhz and V. They are the ram that came with the original PC. I can also post info about both rams from CPU-Z or any other application if needed.

I'll post a picture of the crash from BlueScreenView.

My specs are:

Windows 10 64-bit

Inter i5 4440

Nvidia GTX 1060

8GB of DDR3 Ram normally (16 with the new sticks)

Motherboard is made by Acer and it's called "Acer Predator G3-605"

unzip the file and copy WIN and ROM folder to C:

then press windows logo key

type

command

right click command prompt and choose to run as admin

once in command prompt type

cd \win

flash

don't touch mouse or keyboard during flash, once it reboots press Del Key to enter BIOS, then press F9 to load defaults and F10 to save and exit.

Hi,

Have you made sure that the modules were seated properly and checked the clips holding the modules were in place. Could you please post the details of original modules and the ones you bought for upgrading.

From the picture you can see that the old ram are in slots 2 and 4 (they were originally in these slots) and the new ram are in slots 1 and 3. I'll also post pictures of the details of the rams.

And another crash happened, but this time bluescreenview showed something else too.

Hi,

There's some sort of incompatibility between those sets of modules but can not figure out, I could find only a slight difference in Kingston module has PC3-12800J and couldn't find out what "J" means, I'll do some reading and come back to you, as for the BSOD, other crash experts may be able to help, so be patient for someone else to chime in.

can you please use Whocrashed instead of bluescreen viewer?
http://www.resplendence.com/download/whocrashedSetup.exe

before running it, browse to C:\windows\minidump
delete all files apart the first 2-3 files (newest)
then install whocrashed and run it
click on Analyze
report here the result.

J=Jedec standard

Honestly, running a dual channel with 2x2 different ram sticks, is the best way to arise BSODs; dual channel configurations need the same ram sticks on all used slots due to different DRAM components.

for sure 4 ram sticks of the same model is way better.

since with the old ram sticks it doesn't BSOD, i would take off the old ram and put the new in the same slots and check if it BSOD or not; if not...most of all is ram incompatibility (you need the same ram model on all 4 slots) but it can be a bad ram slot too (rare).

by the way, first of all, can you please report your BIOS version?

Okay, I have now updated the BIOS. And with only the new ram in the computer it has not yet crashed. So it seems like the problem was that the rams were two different models.

last test, put back all the 4 ram sticks and try again.

My PC has now run for several hours with all of the sticks. Still no crashes. Did updating the BIOS really help, or am I just lucky that it has not crashed? Anyway you have been tons of help, thank you a lot.
