Does anyone know how to install a second hard drive into this particular model? I've literally scoured the internet for instructions/videos etc., but with no luck. Acer Support hasn't been any helpful thus far, which is a shame.

    Thanks for your pictures!

You are right. There is no HDD cable available and unfortunately it will be necessary to remove the bottom to install and connect it. I can give you all parts needed but you should contact your regional support about the warranty terms before doing anything. The answers of regional supports are different according to the countries. In all cases, I will prepare the parts list in the evening.

    Hello,

Once the HDD door removed, could you post here a picture of the HDD housing?

Does your laptop equipped/shipped with the HDD cable?

I can't even begin to describe how thankful I am for all your help! I seriously couldn't have done this without you.

This whole thread was pretty much my last hope for getting any advice, and it turned out to be the best place for it!

Oh, man. Are you certain I need these exact parts? I can't really seem to find them (seeing as this laptop model is excluded from every list of everything ever), not to mention having to get them shipped all the way to Norway. Really didn't think installing a hard drive would be this much of a hassle when I bought this laptop.

Again, thanks a lot for all of your help, I'll see what I can do with this.

    Hi.
I just bought my A717-71-556S, thinking to simply add a second HDD.
Turns out I was pretty wrong :/ , but fortunately I finaly found this website.

Can anyone confirm if I need exactely the same spare parts also for my model?

    Thanks a lot!

bought one from amazon germany, arrived without Caddy and without motherboard-to-hard drive connector.
Acer does not distribute the parts directly...redirects to a third-party supplier.
they want €20 for these parts, with shipping.

ACER please take ownership and start sending this to customers...
HELIOS laptops are currently under a program to dispatch these missing parts to customers for free.

It should include acer a7 owners as well.
Can i have the part ordered and then refunded via standard warranty?
