    Hello,

    Each slot supports 8 or 16Gb - 2133 or 2400MHz so you have to buy one memory module of 8Gb. You can find the brand and the part number of the current one with CPU-Z zipped version (no installation) and go to the SPD tab.

    Okay thank you !

    Should i get the exactly the same one ? or any brand with the same specs are fine ?

    Thanks again Smiley Happy

    You should first check in CPU-Z what specs your current RAM plate has. Usually they ship these laptops with 2400 MHz CL17 sticks, but it can differ depending on where you live. Then you should buy a stick with identical specs (or at the very least, identical CAS latency - the CL part). Then you should be good to go! Grats on your purchase

    foxtail,

    The original brands are Micron (Crucial), Kingston and Hynix. If your laptop was shipped with an Hynix memory (Hyunday Electronics), I would suggest you to buy the same module as this brand is randomly compatible with the other brands.

    Which processor do you have?

    • I5-6300HQ or I7-6700HQ: DDR4 2133MHz
    • I5-7300HQ or I7-7700HQ: DDR4 2400MHz

    Thanks for your response.

    I have the I5-7300hq with the 8gb stick at 2133 mhz from Kingston. What would you recommend ?

    I5-7300HQ with memory at 2133MHz! It's odd. In this case, I would suggest you Kingston memory: Link

    My bad, after looking in SPD it says Max bandwidth : DDR4-2400 (1200mhz), so i assume it's 2400 and not 2133.

    Hi foxtail,

    You can check the real speed or frequency like this:

    • CPU-Z --> Memory tab --> DRAM Frequency: ----MHz
    • Task Manager --> Performance tab --> Speed: ----MHz

    You should have this memory module ACR24D4S7S8MB-8 (common with GX-792) so I would suggest you these ones.
