When I got my g9-593, I installed ubuntu, it works OK till last week windows10 updated.

after the update, it boots up to windows directly, I can't select OS to boot to.

I am not sure if I install ubuntu in legancy mode or UEFI mode, maybe I set it to legancy mode in BIOS, and after the update of windows, when I check in bios, it is in UEFI mode. But when I change UEFI to Legancy, my computer can't boot up, neither windows nor ubuntu. And change to UEFI again, windows is ok, but can't find the boot option of Ubuntu.

I searched from internet, some said that, dual boot must be both UEFI or both Legancy, can't be 1 UEFI and 1 Legancy.

And when I use USB disk to boot up ubuntu, I have to change to Legancy mode, otherwise, in UEFI mode, it boot up to windows. Which means even if I want to reinstall ubuntu in UEFI mode, however I can't boot up with UEFI+USB.

Any help?

thanks.

have you added on BIOS the ubuntu .efi file as trusted?

i'ts under security settings - Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing

    select shimx64.efi

and enable F12 boot key under boot menu too, so at boot pressing F12 you can choose which OS boots.

My bios doesn't have an option to trust a file - is that an option for laptops only?  I'm worried that my machine, an Aspire ATC 780 desktop received end of January 2017, has an interim BIOS that doesn't work.
