This game used to run at around 81 degrees not too long ago but no it runs at 92 and thermal throttling a lot while gaming, and yes I have undervolted (all on cpu). Also in most games my gpu runs at around 70 but in dota it is 77.

That means it is time for repasting.

    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

It used to run fine like just a week ago so I don't think that's it

Once the thermal paste starts to dry out it dries out completely very quickly. There is nothing else that can cause overheating. Is this 92C the average temperature or max temperature? Either way it is different than before.

You didn't repaste it in the first place so I guess you don't want to repaste by yourself. Then it is time to call Acer support and tell them about your bad temperatures.

Dota 2 is the only game I play, and I was getting temps of 96+!!! It's the game. I run other games and it's nowhere near as hot. I found a slight fix though, try downloading this.

Undervolt your entire cpu. I undervolt down by -.120     It brings my temps down to about 85. It is what it is man. Bext fix I can find. It's not the paste, it's the game, and something about these laptops.

Well than that's the best your gonna get. If you can still return it, DO IT. THese laptops are garbage, spend the extra money and get and msi or something else. I'm having nothing but trouble with this thing. At least yours wasn't hitting 100c playing freaking dota. Something is wrong with these things, makes sense why newegg had a fire sale going on for them.

I don't think these laptops are as bad as you say, but don't think you can find something better out there. I have seen many kind of laptops the same class as Acer and they don't perform any better. Laptops are meant to run hot. The only issue with these laptop that I can find is the thermal paste. Once you change it with a good quality one your temps will drop. MSI are good in terms of temperatures but the laptop itself looks like it is made from cheap plastic. Whatever brand you choose at the end you will have to repaste anyway.

I know for a fact it doesn't have to get that hot since I got it right in the past.

These laptops are fine, all gaming laptops run hot. There's no guarantee another brand will be any better (Since they mostly use the same parts manufacturers) you're really paying for the branding/naming and customer service/warranty aspect. Also one thing I think most people overlook is that just because it spikes to 92 doesnt mean its sitting at 92 for hours and hours. Do you check the average temperature? Spiking to 92 and sitting at mid 70's or low 80's while not optimum isn't entirely terrible for a gaming laptop. Also remember the ambient temps of where you live can drive these numbers up. If your room is hot, guess what so is your laptop.
