As title,

The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 11390 seconds since the last report.

ive been getting this error a lot ( for each core ) and all the suggested fixes on the internet have not worked so thought i better post here to see if anyone else can recomend something that might help.

The only fix i have not tried is to disable Intel speedstep as that setting is hidden in the bios.

I have tried just about every driver old and new

Windows 7

Setting power management to keep the cpu/pci-e bus speed at 100%

Different ram and Harddrive

Updating Firmware ( this fixed another issue with the pci-e bus warnings )

From what i understand this could be a hardware/firmware compatibilty issue so is my only option to phone Acer tech support as ive owned the laptop about 3 months now.

    Hi

Tried to run a different/better Operating system?

There are some linux distros that you can compile yourself and this ensure that only the correct packages are installed, and that they are 'tuned' to ypur CPU.  The Intel component wont necessarily be a factor thereafter.

sadly Lunix is not an option for me with this laptop so i have to stick with windows due to the programs i use.

Sadly both of those didn't work as I tried them both as it's a hardware fault so none of the software fixes work, I did read that disabling speedstep in the bios is the only fix when the hardware is at fault but acer do not allow speedstep to be changed.

    Another update,

Got the laptop back today and it still had the same issue after they replaced the mainboard and it came back with broken laptop speakers for an added bonus, Bluetooth and the audio jack worked with no issues so i have to choice but to return it to the company i brought it from for a full refund as the laptop is just over 3 months old, spent about 3 and a half hours on the phone with them trying to fob me off with excuses to get out of doing a refund and they even tried to tell me that i have to go through Acer to get a refund which was a lie from them as Acer has nothing to do with the refund process which Acer confirmed.

I wont name the company here but they are an Acer authorised seller in the UK and they are in breach of the UK consumer rights act 2015 which i told them about and they need to train their staff a little better as they hung up the phone twice and kept connecting us to Acer for no reason

For my personal reasons i have documented the condidtion of the laptop and the unrepaied fault and the new fault to make sure i cover myself as i feel this company is going to lie more to get out of doing a refund.

Shame i liked the laptop as it had some great preformance for its spec's but a bad repair is a bad repair sadly and i dont think they can fix the issue hence the refund.
