About a year ago, my laptop died. When I press the power button, the power light comes on, the charging light if connected, the fan turns on for less than a second and the DVD drive gets initiated (or so it sounds like). Other than that the screen stays black, no backlight, no keys do anything, and when I press the power button again it turns off instantly.

Things I have tried:

- Removing the battery and AC adapter and holding the on button to powercycling

- Reseating the ram

- Booting without the WiFi chip, DVD drive and hard drive

- Removing the cmos battery, battery and AC adapter and holding the on button to powercycle

- Booting without battery

Does anyone know what might be the issue?

    Hi

Is the power supply capable of running the laptop?

Will it put any charge into the battery?

Could the system be running and no visual output (attach a monitor)?

Could you create & boot from a DVD/USB stick with another Operating System?

The power supply is the one that came with the laptop.

The battery fully charges and even shows the blue LED when fully charged.

There is nothing running, fan is off, instantly shuts down when you press the on button. Also doesn't make noise when slamming F buttons like it did when it was alive.

Cant really use a USB stick or DVD if the laptop won't even reach the Acer logo.

What happens when you try to turn the screen on with the Fn+F6 toggle key combo? If nothing, then what happens when you try to HDMI out to a TV set? You may have to turn the TV screen on with the Fn+F5 toggle combo. Jack E/NJ
