At first, my Acer Aspire 5742 would repeatedly turn on and off, you could hear the fans and everything, but then it would quickly shut off. It also had been displaying the black Acer start up and something about pressing F-2 which I tried, it did not work at all. I later tried removing the RAM, CMOS battery, and its hard drive with no luck ,resulting in the laptop turning on and off without anything displaying on the screen so completely black. Please help me solve this issue. I hope there is a way for me to personally fix this disturbance as I have no money to put it in a repair shop. Thank you!

    Hi

Well it seems you have cetainly made an effort.

I expect F2 pressed 2 - 3 times at power on will gain access to the BIOS.  There is the POST (Power On Self Test) which runs and does what it says on the tin.

So because you have removed the CMOS battery the bios will be as set by the factory, and this is good enough to start.

Next you would want to add ram and a device to boot from, this could be the HDD fitted internally, a DVD or USB stick with an operating system like W10 or OpenSuSE installed.

If you can access the BIOS screens and have them displayed and confirm that you have done so we can try and move on from there.
