Hi all

I just bought my laptop a couple of days ago and had not have the chance to fully test it.

I wanted to know before i push it to the max in gaming, how long can i play while pluged in withouth damaging the battery? I saw on the user manual that says do not use over pluged in for too long but did not mention any timing.

Also is it normal that top of the keyboard gets very very hot during heavy load?

Thanks

I have noticed this problem as well. Under high loads the area above the keyboard in particular is very hot to touch. I have Coolboost turned on and it has made little difference. Is this just a feature of the model or is there a problem with the setup of my laptop?

I think this is just how the laptop is. Since June I have played with it and have not had any issues. The longest I played for was about 6 or 7 hours nonestop wihtout any issue.

I think worst part would be that in near futurte we might need to change the pasting of the CPU.

I suggest to have a lot of empty space behind your laptop and have an elevated Fan below it to help flow air out.

It is normal for the surface of the laptop to get hot, especially around the keyboard as this is where the hot components are located. You can undervolt the CPU, which will make it run a bit cooler under load.

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

How would one go about undervolting? Is it a BIOS function or is there a program which can do it from the desktop?

I think its better that you don't play with those. The cpu is smart enought to do that when its under heavy load and the tepreture go beyond usual limits. It has not happened to me, so I think its doing a good job keeping the tempreture around 70 or 80.
