Problem using numpad on Travelmate X349

I've just bought a new Travelmate. I bought an Acer with the sole purpose of using the integrated numpad on the keyboard (a feature that many laptops lack). Unfortunately, whenever I'm trying to use the numpad (Fn + U, for instance), it recognises the 2, 4, 6 and 8 numpad keys as cursor keys. This means that when in the browser and inputing characters using their ASCII codes (e.g. Fn + Alt + ...), the browser performs any number of random operations, including returning to the previous or next page or sending commands to the current web app.

I've previously had an Acer Aspire 4810T running Windows 7 Pro x64 which has always worked without a hitch. On the new laptop I have only experienced it so far in Chrome, so it's potentially either an issue with Chrome or with Windows 10. But why is this occuring, and does it happen with dedicated Numpads?

did you find a solution by any chance ?
maintaining the 'fn' key temporarily enables the arrows instead of the numbers
that's very annoying, especially on a non-US keyboard layout
