    Thanking you for your kind response.

     

    I had recently, to reset my Acer 5749.

    Whenever, Microsoft Updates notifies me.

    A lot of the Updates failed to store on my computer.

     

    It kept crashing for some unknown reason.

    I believe, a bad virus occured.

     

    This is why I asked if a New Update were

    available for my Acer 5749, direct from Acer.

     

    Hopefully, this will cure future crashes.

    I see.  You're having difficulty getting Windows Updates to download and install properly.

     

    Without knowing what software is installed on the system, it would be difficult for me to determine why Microsoft Windows Updates may be having issues.   Windows 7 is a very stable platform.

     

    You say you recently "reset" your Aspire 5749.  Do you mean that you recovered the system to factory defaults?

     

    Do you recall any error messages or which updates were failing?

     

    Why do you believe that "a virus" has infected the system?

     

    Acer does not provides Windows Updates.  They are strictly a Microsoft software update.

    Thanks very much  4 your detailed response.

     

    You are correct. I meant reset to  "Factory Defaults".

    This seemed to cure the Microsoft Updates.

     

    A message usually pops up "Drivers Update" is available.

    Acer Updates is for US version not UK version.

     

    Whenever, I try to Download McAfee Total Protection 2013.

    I get a message: Installation Failed.

    I have had McAfee Technician intercept to

    help me. But it still fails for some unknown reason!
