I was checking to see if there were any software downloads or drivers for my monitor. I've noticed that there is a firmware update in the BIOS section of my monitor's download page. The readme with the download has 3 steps.
- Download the firmware update file and save it to the root of a USB drive or memory card that is compatible with your monitor. (Please refer to the monitor's User Guide to ensure which memory cards are supported.)
- Turn off the monitor. Plug the USB drive into an available USB port, or insert the memory card into the memory card slot.
- Turn the monitor on. The monitor will automatically detect the firmware upgrade. Please press OK to install the upgrade. This will take a few minutes.
I've followed these instructions, but nothing happens when I power my monitor back on. I've tried both USB drives and SD cards. I've even gone through the process of making my memory card bootable to see if that makes a difference. All that happens is I see the Acer flash screen when I turn on the monitor, then it immediately displays my Windows desktop. I've tried with my computer disconnected. Then the monitor boots to the built-in user interface where you can check email and view pictures. It never seems to automatically detect the firmware upgrade. Is there a trick to getting this to work?
I probably don't necessarily need to run an update on my firmware, but I am concerned that the update process doesn't even begin to run when following these instructions.
