My Acer Aspire 5741 has trouble sleeping sometimes.

I have an Acer Aspire 5741-6073, sometimes when I close the lid, the screen turns off, but the fan and indication lights remain on, but most of the time, the laptop sleeps successfully.  By the way, I recently got an extended battery for it, and that's about when it started happening.  There is also an issue where the PC will sometimes crash during sleep.
