Long story short, I am thinking about buying an F5-573T-50KY laptop, but I am not a Windows user.

I use linux.  I simply want to know if alternate OS's like Linux can be installed on it, or is there a "secret setting" that prevents instalation.

Thank you!

If you want to use some linux distro on that machine than you have to know that some linux distro can start and run only in legacy BIOS mode and can't in UEFI secure boot mode.

And in some laptop two video card are, even two different brand video card (for example intel and nvidia this is the most wrongest case!).  The linux and bsd OSs are poorly supported, this means if in your laptop two video card are than maybe your laptop will use only one of them! In the linux systems are some help for this cases (nouveau, bumblebee etc) but not easy the setup.

The most wrongest case if in the laptop are an intel and an nvidia card with nvidia optimus function! You must forget these laptops!
