Low signal quality after mb replaced?

I just received my a500 back from Acer Repair Services for a warranty mb replacement. The warranty has now expired. However, I cannot receive a strong signal from any WiFi source.

The tablet is fluctuating between 1/2 bars out of 4 when I'm FIVE FEET from the router. If I move beyond TEN FEET the connection becomes spotty at best.

I did not experience this problem before sending it in for service. My Acer laptop shows full signal strength, as does my android phone (LG).

Both also display the half dozen or so other wireless networks in my area. The a500 does not detect these.

I have found that there's a patch for a 'connect WiFi unsuccessfully' issue that is available from Acer. But the documentation doesn't indicate that this will work for my build. Canada is not listed as a country affected. An excerpt from the documentation showing the closest analogues is pasted here:

To check the version of the operating system (OS) on your tablet:
Please go to Settings > About tablet > Build number.
Supported OS version(s): Please refer to the information below to verify if your
A500 is affected by the ‘connect Wi-Fi unsuccessfully’ issue.
Affected countries and OS

A. Countries: UK/France/Italy/Spain
- Affected OS versions:
Acer_A500_4.010.22_COM_GEN1
Acer_A500_4.010.30_COM_GEN1
- After installing the update, you are advised to update your tablet’s operating system to:
Acer_A500_4.010.38_COM_GEN1
B. Country: USA
- Affected OS versions:
Acer_A500_4.010.07_COM_GEN2
Acer_A500_4.010.08_COM_GEN2
Acer_A500_4.010.09_COM_GEN2
- After installing the update, you are advised to update your tablet’s operating system to:
Acer_A500_4.010.10_COM_GEN2

My settings:

Settings>About tablet>Build number: Acer_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1

Will applying this patch screw my tablet even worse than it is?

Is there something else I can do?

    Good day

The patch will not harm the tablet in any way. Run the patch and if running a patch doesnt resolve the fault then take it back to the repair centre.

Thank you for your reply Freeza. Unfortunately, the patch failed to run.

How exactly do you propose I go about contacting the repair centre?

I still have the address to which I shipped the tablet. However, without an "active" warranty, there seems to be no way for me to tell Acer that they F*ed up my repair!

    Feeling frustrated,
