I recently bought a replacement battery for my Acer Aspire V3-771G and I am getting the "plugged in, not charging" problem. I have contacted the seller that i purchased the battery for and they informed me that the battery is made to work with the newest versions of bios for my laptop, however i updated to windows 10 and there are no compatible bios upgrades for windows 10. Will it work if I upgrade my bios to the windows 8 or 8.1 versions or will it make my computer unbootable?

In most cases it's always recommended to upgrade a computers BIOS to the latest version available. With a few exceptions, if the new BIOS is causing problems for example. In your case it would be better to have a more recent BIOS installed if you want to operate Windows 10. So to answer your question: no, upgrading your BIOS will do no harm to your computer.
