screen default brightness setting changed by the cat

One of my cats laid across the keyboard on my Extensa 5620 laptop.  Somehow he managed to change the default brightness level for the laptop's screen.  I can use the Fn and right arrow keys to increase the brightness level back to normal but the change is never permanent.  When the laptop is rebooted, it always defaults back to what the cat set it to.

Try this, go to Device manager, expand Monitors, right click "Generic PnP monitor", uninstall the driver in Driver tab, reboot and let the Windows install the driver. HTH.
