  • Unfortunately I'm at a loss as to the problem. Clearly Windows is more than capable of configuring the HDD else it wouldn't install. There should be no need to do any preparation or employ third party software. In my case, I have a DVD drive so it was simply a matter of inserting the DVD and essentially let Windows do the rest. I assume you had to copy the content of your DVD to the USB stick but that shouldn't have caused an issue.

    I guess you didn't make a backup of your Win8 to DVD/USB prior to formatting. In that case you will need to contact Acer for details of any recovery media options that they have available - I don't have a clue on that one I'm afraid!
