Has anyone received helpful support from Acer? They are awful and infuriating.

Hi Acer community, 

About 14 months ago, I bought an expensive (>$1000) Acer computer. The warranty expired, and the computer shut down 2 months later. The computer didn't even blue screen. It isn't "posting" and I am told that this is a motherboard issue. I can't believe that I paid so much for a lemon! But, that aside, I'm hoping that Acer can help me out. So far, their technical support keeps routing me to India and India tells me that they can't help because it is out of warranty. I understand that 14 months have passed, but it seems fishy that the computer completely bombed 2 months after the warranty expired. I'm hoping that Acer can help me. Has this happened to anyone else? What do you guys recommend? Any phone numbers that actually work?
