Acer One 10 S1001 charging issue

Hello all, I'm new to this. If any part of my post is not good, then my apology to you because it's what I experienced that I write here to reach out for better solution. Here's my story:

Purchasing this unit since early 2015 for around 300 USD, but I rarely used it due to frequent undetected keyboard, wifi issue, disconnecting usb, etc. During the first 1 year full warranty, it's been fixed 2 times in the ACER service centre, but still it's not okay to be used normally so I just used it once in a while every several months.

In Dec 2016, I tried to use it again for watching webinar. When the battery was reaching 20%, I charged it instantly without turning it off. It went ok, but some minutes later the power (our electricity supply) went off. The unit itself was still on and I tried to shut it down. When the power came back some minutes later, the unit couldn't be charged anymore. Somehow the shutting down process didn't work well for unknown reason and it caused the battery to drain further. At last attempt of turning it on, it showed low battery reached 5%.

Later, I tried to charge it in off mode for some hours but it's not working anymore. The unit couldn't be turned on at all. I brought it to the service centre (still in coverage of 3 years service warranty until Feb/Mar 2018) and the verdict was the broken motherboard.

As a complete noob to this stuff, I had no idea what the problem was, but intuitively I strongly believed it's not the motherboard, so I asked them to do the rechecking multiple times via the call center and direct call to the local service centre. The answer was the same, broken motherboard. And the solution offered was to replace it. The price was reduced from USD 100+ to 50 at first, then further to USD 40 on the 2nd discussion about it, with 1 month full warranty for the same problem. But still I didn't believe it's the broken motherboard so I cancelled it.

My opinion, spending extra 40 bucks after initial USD 300 for 1 month was not worth it for the endless problems I had experienced. But to ditch it away, it's not felt good at all, it's a big money to me. So I tried to find the solution online with no clear answer found yet, but decided to check it myself.

The usb cable and the adapter was okay, they're working normal. Then, I pulled out the battery from the unit and charged it manually for a few hours by using jumper method seen on youtube. Putting back the battery inside and turned it on, it was really on with 70% battery and working normal. Done it several times after the battery was low and charged again, and always working great.

The problem is, the battery couldn't be charged if I put it inside the unit and charged it normally by plugging the usb cable into the port, regardless it's on or off mode. I had to pull out the battery everytime I wanted to do the charging which was not convinient at all.

Questions:

1. Have any of you been through this and found better way to solve the similar problem?

2. Is it possible to directly charge the battery when it's still connected to the motherboard by putting new cable in the battery similar as the jumping method?

(The battery has 2 + and -, 1 set is free, 1 set is connected to 5 cables port to the motherboard)

3. Doing the factory reset, would it solve the problem? Would it be returned to Win 8 as its original one from the factory or the Win 10 as the latest OS version?

(The previous OS upgrade process caused the unit into total not functioning mode and needed to go to the service center to have it on again, but thankfully it's still in full warranty at that time, so it's still free. But now, it's no longer free, so I think it's better to ask first.)

Please don't offer the solution to ask me to go to the service centre again because it sucked big time. Sorry Acer, it's the truth.

Due to my zero background in this, it's better to link me a youtube video if it's possible so I could imitate every steps clearly. I don't know any technical terms, so the written solution would be highly appreciated if it's in common term understood by a total noob.

Thanks a lot for any solution offered or any ideas given or any personal experiences shared.

And Happy New Year to all Smiley Happy
