I heard a pop sound and looked down to see an orange glow emitting through the louvers along with smoke. unit shut down (obviously). I cant find any visible signs of burning but the power will not come on and the power supply has a strong smell of burnt wire.

Am i correct in assuming that the power supply fried and is there somewhere I can purchase a new supply?

Love my predator

  • Hello,

Probably a capacitor(s) that slammed. I give you the part numbers of the original PSUs:

I located and replaced the power supply. Computer booted after about 15 minutes of updates then 10 minutes later everything froze and I had to do a hard shutdown and restarted. Now when I push the power button, power button lights up but wont book. I just get a black screen.

    Hello,

    1. Do you see the Acer logo when you start up your desktop?
    2. Which version of Windows do you use? Upgrade to Windows 10?

I do not see any logo or anything for that matter, just a black screen.

    I am using windows 10.

    Hello,

    Have you tried:

    1. To clear Cmos by removing the Cmos battery or using the Cmos jumper?
    2. To remove the graphic board and to connect your monitor to the VGA port of the motherboard (just for a test)?
