We just upgraded our operating system to Windows 8 from Vista.  Now our  Acer H233H monitor does not use all of the monitor to display anything.  I had to go into the horizontal and vertical display settings just to get the monitor useable (where I could access the right side of the display - what was being displayed). It startred with 2inches or so black on the left side and displayed images off screen and unaccessable to the right.  After the H and V adjustments, windows 8 is usable.  However, I have about 2 1/2 inches ok blank/black screen to left.  Therefore, not utilizing the full display area of the monitor.

Is there a driver download available?  Where/how do I get to it?

Is there a fix or do I scrap the Acer and buy a Dell or another monitor?

Actually, it sounds more like video drivers. Not monitor drivers. Have you looked at your video card website to see if they have win8 drivers for your card?
