text messaging doesn't work new ACER ZEST

I cannot send or recieve text messages on my new acer zest I'm pretty sure I went through all the steps to set it up correctly. I'm with Koodo.

    i think it's better to check with your network provider why is not working.

     I agree with Ironfly on this that your carrier is probably the best bet.

     

    But here are a few basics...

     

    I'm assuming you can make phone calls ? so you are not in airplane mode or something ?

     

    Do you have more than one sim card in the phone.  If not, is your sim card in slot 1 ?

    Under SETTINGS, there is an option called "SIM cards", when you go in there, you should see your sim card (showing carrier and number), and on the bottom of that screen it even shows you what SIM card SMS messages are going to use.  Can you check to see if that is showing correctly ?

     

    And under Settings->... More, it shows you the default SMS app.  By default it uses the internal "Messaging" app.  Can you verify that it is still set as such, and no other app has taken over an misbehaving...

    Thank you both in advance for your help. Still no success.

    I checked under settings:
    I'm in slot #1 for sim card
    It's on the default factory SMS app
    No airplane mode
    I can send and rec'v phone calls
    I'm using one SIM card only
    I can't call Koodo without getting charged $5 apparently. Any other ideas?
    Costco concierge wouldn't help even though I bought it there.

    No clue honestly..

     

    Have you tried another sim card (a friend's or other family members) ?

    Or tried your sim in another phone ?

     

    Koodoo charges you $5 ?  Even if you call them on a land line or something ?  What's the $5 for, service call fee ?  That alone would be cause for me to say goodbye to them Smiley Wink

    Start SMS application
    Tap on settings (3 dots)
    Tap on text messages (SMS)
    Check SMS service center phone number, looks if it's the correct one with your network provider (normally it's available on provider website or searching on google)

    that was a good catch. The service number is set right.

     

    I also tried the Koodo online community to get a "Mobile Master" to answer my question.  In the same timeframe, you both have given quality answers, those "Masters" have not responded. I guess they're that good.

     

    Need to ask my hubby to switch sim cards, will let you know if it works...
