What if my reseller can't replicate an X34 Predator fault?

Hi all,

Last month I purchased an X34 Predator from an online retailer. Immediately after taking delivery of the monitor, I noticed some thin, vertical scanlines appearing across the desktop wallpaper I have used for a couple of years previously. These vertical scanlines were photographed using my phone camera, after I discovered their presence at multiple refresh rates on both HDMI and DP inputs using two different graphics cards. The lines were most noticeable at 80Hz and above using DP, and at 50Hz using HDMI.

I requested a replacement rather than a refund from the retailer, and attached images of the fault to my request. They agreed to take the monitor back and send me a new one after confirming the issue on their end.

Now that they've had the monitor in their possession for a couple of weeks, they are telling me that they can't replicate the fault I'm experiencing. I've attached higher resolution images of the fault to an email to them, to ensure that they are looking for the same issue. In fact, I've even attached the desktop wallpaper I took the photos with so they can set the monitor up exactly as I had it.

I'm now waiting back to hear about their attempts to replicate the issue...

I'm concerned that the retailer will tell me they can't replicate the issue and that they'll send back the monitor as a fully working product. If they try to do this, what are my options? I find it concerning that I'm risking such a large sum of money on a purchase which isn't working as intended based on my experience.

Thanks,

We suggest you contact the reseller now and ask the manager what your options are. If you are within the return policy guidelines then they should be able to swap it out or refund you. Unfortunately Acer would be unable to intervene with the reseller and their policies but you might want to check with the reseller as soon as possible to find out what your options with them will be.
