warranty aspire s7

I bought my acer aspire s7 in the US ( have receipt )  two months ago. Currently in South Africa ( SA citizen ) and my S7 stopped booting up. Will I be able to transfer my warranty from US to SA. It seems the repair center wants me to pay for repairs and the warranty does not count. It is counterintuitive since a ultrabook is a mobile device and a wrranty should be honoured internationally. Any comments?

As you have purchased the laptop from US and a citizen of SA the ITW won’t be counted in SA. If you have purchased the laptop from SA and travelling outside SA ITW is covered. There is no option to transfer the warranty from one country to another. Is it the HDD which is bad or just a corruption of the OS ?

Tx for reply. The same as a previous post : Does not boot. Stays frozen at "Acer - Explore Beyond Limits" Screen. They didn't say if its is HDD, bios,OS in the end in the post. I will pay for repair but worried about cost since it was an expensive ultrabook to start with.

Check if the ultrabook has a reset button either on the left or right side. If so disconnect the adapter and press the reset button for 30 sec while the laptop is powered off.

     Check if the laptop boots.

Are you traveling to US any time near? If so you can get it repaired free in the US or any of your friend's is traveling to US you can send the laptop through them to get it repaired there.

Not for the help of the original poster, but for the benefit of others.

The Aspire S7 as sold in most countries includes an international warranty (international travellers warranty ITW). However this is where the S7 has been bought in the region where the purchaser lives (e.g. US customer buys in US) and the customer is only temporarily in another country.

This only applies where Acer have a recognised ITW centre (most major countries).

The original poster could try contacting the telephone number below in SA and asking specifically for the ITW service and see if they will help out.
