In order for a Chromebook to print it has to connect to the Google cloud print service and the Google cloud print service then has to know about your printer. I'm guessing the printer hasn't yet been setup to connect to Google cloud. If the printer is cloud ready then it should just be a matter of doing that portion of the setup, though you also need the printer connected to your network before it can connect to Google. If the printer is only connected via USB it won't be able to find Google.
