Acer E700 (E39) already end of life

I have an Acer E700 for about two years now. It's a great phone for its value but the issue is that Acer never upgraded the firmware to Android 5. So in reality, I'm stuck with a phone that is not old but already end of life because the Operating System used is not safe anymore.

The governance of this model by Acer is bad. It's not sustainable to have to throw away phones that are not old enough to be end of life, just because the manufacturer choses not to govern it's firmware in a proper way.

A lot of secure software already requires at least Android 5 or higher.

I urge Acer to foresee an update for all it's new devices for at least one higher version of the OS.

It's a matter of respect for the customer AND environment.

It's really sad having to replace devices that are still in excellent health but the firmware is not governed properly by the manufacturer. Such a shame.

I have recommended Acer a lot in the last two years, but the flaw in their business plan and governance is clear now: the low OS support leads to more pollution and environmental waste as Acer devices are becoming uncompliant very fast due to lack of upgrades to a higher OS version.
