Acer Liquid S1 - Will I ever be able to upgrade to a higher OS version (4.2.2 now), like 6?

Hey, I just got my hands on this device, and it's not a bad one, but I can't work with 4.2.2, I need to upgrade the OS version in order to use my apps properly. I tried with the system update, receiving error 1006 on WiFi and 1001 on data. Please let me know if there is a way that does not involves rooting, the phone is new, I'm the first owner and I don't want to lose the warranty. Thank you!

these error messages are about the discontinued old Acer OTA servers, they are shutted down, by the way you already have the latest official OS.

 

So, the only way to update to the latest releases is using root and custom ROMs but, honestly, i can't remember any Cyanogen porting or others.
