Can I add an SSD to the P645-MG-7853?

A repair guy once told me there was an M.2 slot, but a)I don't know if he meant that the MAIN drive was already in an M.2 slot, or that there was an additional one (I thought it was additional), and b)I don't know if I'd need to use SATA or PCIe?

As your laptop is not equipped for a second drive, you'll need these parts:

50.V8RN2.003	CABLE.HDD
47.V8RN2.001	GASKET.HDD (Rubber part)

Note: This operation requires disassembling the bottom. The height of the original HDDs is 7mm (same as SSD cased).

I think you made a mistake about the model name. Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

 

PS: You own probably a TravelMate P645-MG-7653.

Yeah I think you're right and it's a 6, not an 8 - kind of hard to see on the sticker The s/n starts with NXV93AA006.

Thanks. Your laptop is equipped with one mSATA SSD of 256Gb. You could add one HDD so one SSD cased but you'll need certain parts like cable, rubber part. You can check it in removing the HDD door.

So I could add another SSD, in the HDD space? What connectors would I use for that, is there another drive port I could use with an adapter?

1. Yes, it does have the HDD door, we had previously seen that there was an HDD bay but didn't seem like there was any connector for an HDD.

3. To clarify, I was just referring to this second drive, not a third.

4. No, it is not under warranty anymore.
