Does anyone have the oem device drivers backed up before you started using your computer? I bought the Windows7 acer all-in-one Aspire Z5771 from shop NBC May of 2012. When I received it, I created backup disks for possible future restore operation. I didn't see the recommendation to backup the original drivers and now my DVD rom isn't recognizing disks, thought if I could get the original drivers I could reload them to see if that works.

I tried a software called driver-update-software.com and ran the thing it said it was up to date, but then i clicked on the results for dvd rom and it said the drive is invalid. no help from acer phone calls - except to do a complete system restore - I really don't want to do that! I would lose too much. Have already used 500 GB - can't afford to lose al that work!

Optical drives are automatically installed by Windows.  There are no additional drivers to install.
