Forgive if intrusive, cannot find any other identifiable post which I can make sense of. I am not familiar with the newer acronyms; not greatly gifted technically either but can follow simple instructions. If you can assist me, "Great!", if not, "thank you for time reading or providing link!" Sincerely, Vivienne *NOTE: now using internet, still won't respond. Showing as "camera" in the explorer.

have an Unrooted, Acer Iconia Tab A500, I'm thinking Froyo 3.3? Latest?. Didn't notice it downloading when I shut it off after I put a pattern on it and forgot the pattern, the next day. It has two emails aligned with it but won't go online. I hooked up a usb keyboard and "esc" works to bring up the little lock/camera circle but remains ineffective. Checked at Google, they made me change a password (Tab for main account - other account same and unchanged). The A500 is not rooted  I have pushed buttons, taken the card out (no sim card), usb'd to phone three ways (transfer usb-usb, small port usb to usb on laptop/phone, to laptop with transfer cable, usb and pushed a pin in it), tried to get online and cannot. Did get to safe mode, a dead android and to the sign-in to Google (but won't go online). I am old as dirt, dum as a rock and thinking if I used the tablet  instead of books (for a class) I'd be well off locking (A500) in case I set it down someplace or lost it  I need it pretty bad or I have to wear two pair of glasses to read the text on the Samsung (phone). I will be happy to give my phone, my email, my pass's, anything except my firstborn (he fixes my car). Can someone offer a usb download and simple instructions? Have searched on (alternate site, asus site, another competitor site and you have the most to offer). Clear, definite and not too awfully complex instructions? Is there an easy usb reloader? How far does the pin push in? Do I push the pin in when? I tried pretty much every configuration already.  I'll donate after my SS check comes on the 3rd or subscribe or something. Smiles 4 Miles, (little grey-haired old lady). .

I see that your main issue is, "...I put a pattern on it and forgot the pattern..."

If you used a Pattern lock and enter the incorrect pattern 5 times, there is a Forgot Pattern option available.

This option is only displayed if you configured a Google account on your tablet.

If the Forgot Pattern option is displayed, you can use it to enter your user information and unlock the tablet.

Much thanks Tommy, I do actually have two gmail accounts (one did change the password) but the other remains untouched. I cannot get online. The touch screen is not responsive. I have it on my lap and am going to attempt the hold volumn down, after buzz toggle the hold button, once more. I did get to "safe mode" but that also remains ineffective. I did try the "push pin" in reset hole but that also had no effect. There are various icons on the status bar which do not respond either. Just like new, this tablet stayed in the case for a year until I just got charter internet yesterday so trying again but have had no response. I have a transfer cable, have utilized both small and large usb ports (have hdmi but large) and bluetooth from phone but the phone is fritzy right now (unstable straight talk), no 3g, speech and something about sign in being incorrect but don't have another phone to phone them. It's only been a month (ha ha). Things turn out best for the way people make the best out of the way things turn out. I'm doing my best. Best wishes to you as well and thank you for your time responding. I will send this request to any acer tech who would care to assist in getting back. (Am disabled, arthritic, books are heavy so thought I could use it after returning to church so put the passcode pattern on it.) Found out differently so factory reset is fine as is erasing all my information. If anyone can suggest a "flash"? And instructions, please do.

As far as "getting online" is concerned, do you see any wireless networks with the unit at all?

    Either at home or abroad?

If the touch screen is not responsive, that would need to be looked at by service.  It is not something I can address on the forums.
