I just bought an Acer Iconia Tab 8W. How long does it take to charge?

It's just out of the box. The instructions say plug it in and then turn it on. No luck. Does it have to be fully charged to turn on the first time? Is there anywhere on it that indicates it's charging?

Even if the battery is completely discharged you should be able to fire it up on AC power within no more than a couple of minutes. It's possible that they ran the battery down to less than zero while it was sitting in the store, assuming it was on the shelf for a looong time after being powered up as a demo unit. That would require a battery replacement.
