USB Killer!!!

Today I saw a video about 'USB Killer'. Be aware of this guys and always check what you plug in your computer. I am not sure whether I am allowed to post links of videos but you can see it if you type 'USB Killer' in the search. Basicly from its name this device looks like a normal USB flash stick, but instead of having the memory chip inside, it has many capacitors, which get charged when you plug it, and then send back a high voltage current(about 200VOLTS) through your USB port which completely destroys the mother board and the other components. It doesn't work on laptops only, it works on any other PCs. There are laptops which USB ports are made to resist this large amount of voltage(doesn't kill the computer but kills the USB port) for example the new A***E.

I would like to ask, as this USB Killer has been developed recently, that means all the computers made after its appearance can resist it, can the USBs of our predators resist this thing?

Thank you

Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
-Model number
-Part number(not required, but helpful)
-CPU
-GPU
-Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

From the video it looks like newer computers should survive, most of the vids I watched showed older units dying completely, on newer electronics only the data transfer capabilities died.  I'm not worried because, honestly, I don't really go around letting random strangers plug USB drives into my devices.

  • as this works just without being discovered from the OS, it's really harmful for all devices which can accessed by everybody like in Enterprises, Puplic places which are offfering Internet for others on computers ....

Of course you saw some vids with older devices .... I would not test it here Smiley Happy . I saw it working .... it's oweful.

That was very selfish of me, my scope of vision was just my personal units!  but yeah, now that you mention it, it would suck if someone would grab this USB and just go around campus plugging into every USB drive they find Man Mad
